After getting bombarded with deals and advertising for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday is a day for giving back. People embrace the day as an opportunity to raise money for local nonprofits, schools and arts organizations; run food and clothing drives; teach children about philanthropy; encourage acts of kindness; collaborate with their neighbors; and celebrate generosity. This year, it’s held on November 28, 2017, and is widely recognized as a way to kick off the end-of-year charitable season.
In 2016, nonprofits raised more than $168 million online using #GivingTuesday to help make the world a better place. #GivingTuesday harnesses the reach of social media and the generosity of people around the world to bring about real change in their local communities. Each year, the Foundations is energized by the commitment of local leaders who provide critical support through the GWCF Directors & Corporators Fund. The investment into the infrastructure of the Foundation helps expand local philanthropy, bolster our ability to service nonprofits and bring people together to create opportunities.
Giving Tuesday is one of the best times to get involved wherever your philanthropic passions lie. If you’d like to talk about a gift to Directors & Corporators Fund, please give Kelly Stimson a call at 508-755-0980.
