There is an African proverb which reads, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

There is an African proverb which reads, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” The wisdom contained in those words underscores the importance of learning how to build relationships, promote teamwork, and grow our community here in Central Massachusetts.

Every May we hold our Annual Meeting as a way to highlight some the Foundation’s achievements over the previous year. This year is no exception as we look back on our 40th Anniversary. Since 1975 the Foundation has distributed more than $100 million in grants and built an endowment that exceeds $135 million. In 2015 alone, we distributed $5.7 million in grants and scholarships, started 17 new funds, and received over $6 million in gifts.

Today, we continue to grow by applying our shared community wisdom to build new partnerships, create strategic initiatives and target more resources to those who need it most. These investments support the Foundation’s multiple, interrelated goals to foster a citizenry with the basics to participate more fully in their community—economic security, proper housing, quality health care, and a sound education, particularly for the youngest among us. We feel through these initiatives, and our community leadership in action, together we’ll go far.

This year’s annual meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 18 at Mechanics Hall beginning at 4:30PM. If you haven’t already done so, please RSVP to Kelly Stimson at events@greaterworcester.org to reserve your spot at this year’s Annual Meeting.
