Worcester County Food Bank Fund to End Hunger
The Worcester County Food Bank (WCFB) Fund to End Hunger was established in 2011 as a resources to support nonprofit organizations work towards a shared vision of a hunger-free Worcester County.
The fund has updated their areas of interest for the 2023 cycle based on current conditions and expressed needs of organizations. We are interested in supporting organizations engaged in meaningful efforts that:
- Increase Access to Healthy Food & Economic Self Sufficiency
- In School/ after school and summer Meals Programs
- Woman, Infant and Child Nutrition Program (WIC)
- Meals on Wheels and other programs serving the elderly
- Community food and nutrition resources like community gardens and Farmer's Markets
- Programs supporting marginalized populations such as immigrants and refugees, LGBTQIA+, individuals and families of color
- Programs that promote skill building around workforce training, financial planning, nutrition, and meal preparation
- Build Capacity for Food Serving Organizations
- Equipment & Materials for food handling and storage
- Materials & equipment to support growth, increase efficiency or increase capacity
- Efforts to increase diversity, inclusion, equity and access amongst your staff, volunteers, board, and/or clients
- Engage in Advocacy & Policy Change
- Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) and Healthy Incentives Program (HIP) advocacy and awareness
- Work to counter the impact of the ending of the Emergency Assistance benefits
- Efforts to support those considered benefit ineligible
Eligibility, Scope & Limitations
- The average grant size is $3,000. The fund will accept proposals up to $10,000
- Any 501(c)(3) nonprofit or fiscally sponsored organization based in and serving Worcester County are eligible
- The fund will not make general operating grants to the same organization more than 3 years in a row.
- The fund will consider on a very limited basis proposals that requests purchase of personal care/household items and food. Any request should be restricted to medical needs or for educational purposes such as a cooking class.
