Whether it's completing grant applications or preparing for an audit, small nonprofit organizations are oftentimes expected to have and deliver financial processes that are as robust as large corporations.

Executive Directors have to become CFOs, staff and volunteers have to become accountants and bookkeepers without any resources or support. The responsibility of financial management can be especially daunting for leaders who have never had access to financial education, personally or professionally. In this session, participants will learn about the foundational practices of nonprofit finance, reflect on their own experiences with financial management, and have the opportunity to share and gain skills and practices that have worked for other small nonprofit organizations. 

The Building Blocks of Finance is an educational and interactive workshop for small nonprofit leaders and their staff serving the City of Worcester and Worcester County. We believe that no one should do this work alone. If you will be joining us, we encourage you to bring 1-2 to members of your team to participate.

This workshop is for organizations with an annual budget under $500,000.

About the Trainer

Rae Negron is a strategic analyst with over a decade of organizational development experience including performance management, operations, program evaluation, development, strategic planning and capacity building. She has worked with and for an array of organizations including youth development, art programs, education reform, suicide prevention, economic policy and community violence intervention. In 2021, Rae founded Strategy With Intention, LLC., a consulting practice that provides strategic thought partnership and capacity building support to grassroots and nonprofit organizations. Rae holds a Master of Social Work from Boston College. She is also a Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) in Massachusetts.
