For Students
Margaret G. Wolcott Scholarship
Margaret G. Wolcott created this scholarship through a bequest in her will to help students from Shrewsbury High School pursue higher education. First awarded in 2019, it reflects Margaret’s deep love of her hometown and her desire to help young people pursue higher education.
Margaret was born in Shrewsbury on February 5, 1919, the daughter of Charles and Isabelle Smith. She graduated from Shrewsbury High School in 1937 and received a B.A. from Lasell College. Later, she earned a Master’s degree from Fairchild Business School.
Margaret married Robert P. Wolcott and they had a son, Robert P. Wolcott, Jr. While raising him, she worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and eventually shifted her career to C.K. Smith, a heating oil supplier in Worcester. She became a Director and, eventually, a part-owner of the C.K. Smith Company.
Margaret outlived both her husband and her son, passing away in 2018 at the age of 99. Her spirit lives on in this scholarship, helping young people pursue their dreams of higher education and reach for professional success.
