Greater Worcester Community Foundation is honored to announce a $1.3 million bequest from the late George Krikorian, a longtime philanthropist and devoted supporter of the Worcester County community.
This generous gift, made through his estate, establishes a permanent field of interest fund to benefit individuals with physical disabilities.
The Krikorian family's legacy of giving through the Foundation spans more than 30 years. In 1994, George’s parents, Anna and George Krikorian Sr., opened a donor advised fund at the Foundation as a simple but powerful way to give back to the community. The Krikorians were local business owners and founders of Spencer Products, a manufacturing company based in Central Massachusetts.
After his parents passed, George continued the family’s philanthropic vision, serving as the fund’s advisor and stewarding its impact throughout Worcester County. Over the next two decades, he directed more than $469,000 in grants to local nonprofits, including Worcester Center for Crafts, where the Krikorian Gallery is named in honor of his parents; the Boys & Girls Club of Worcester; Worcester County Food Bank; and several local colleges and universities.
Following George’s passing in 2024 at age 66, the Krikorian Family Fund transitioned to a discretionary fund and now contributes annually to the Foundation’s competitive grantmaking, supporting the community in perpetuity.
But George’s final gift went even further. Through his estate plan, he left one-quarter of his estate — more than $1.3 million — to the Foundation to establish the George Peter Krikorian Fund, a new field of interest fund focused on supporting individuals with physical disabilities. In addition to this legacy gift, George designated the remainder of his estate to three other local organizations that he cared deeply about.
The story of the Krikorian family and their generosity is a wonderful example of multigenerational philanthropy. George and his parents’ thoughtful planning and deep love for community has created a legacy that will grow over time and continue to meet critical needs across the region.
