This week, we join in the national celebration of community foundations working to spearhead positive changes in local regions all over the country. As we have for the past 40 years, Greater Worcester Community Foundation is leading the charge in Central Massachusetts to mobilize the community to solve its own problems for the long term.

At a time when people are longing to resolve some of our most pressing societal problems, community foundations offer real solutions. Greater Worcester Community Foundation is one of more than 700 in America working in collaboration with donors and local nonprofits, using the endowments entrusted to us, to build stronger communities through education, job training, cultural programs, early intervention, civic engagement and more.

In just the past five years, through the tremendous generosity of our donors, GWCF has invested more than $26 million with hundreds of organizations on a huge range of topics. In addition to grants, our nonprofit training resources help local boards and staff become ever more effective stewards of the grants awarded to them.

Nov. 12-18 is National Community Foundation Week. We take this moment to salute those who believe in the power of philanthropy and work smart to make a difference, strengthened by collaboration. Give where you live. And let us know if we can help. The load is lighter when we go together.
