The Foundation is now accepting applications for its Creative Spark Grant Program. The grant program is one element of the Creative Worcester Initiative, which the Foundation has launched in partnership with the Barr Foundation and its Creative Commonwealth Initiative.

With support of five community foundations in five cities across Massachusetts, Creative Commonwealth aims to help engage donors with local artists and cultural organizations in new and transformative ways. Within Creative Worcester, the Creative Spark Grant Program is intended to empower the arts & culture sector to activate under-served populations and amplify under-heard voices.

The Creative Spark Grant Program is the only grant program within the Foundation that is open to both organizations and individuals. These grants are intended to “spark” more connections with and expressions by diverse community voices. Funds will be used to support new efforts in amplifying these voices and presence within the creative sector. In particular, organizations and individuals with a first-time project idea that aligns with the Foundation's values are invited to apply for a Creative Spark Grant. This may include, but is not limited to: cultural events, exhibits or installations, special performances or performance series. The Foundation hopes to fund up to ten Spark projects.

To be considered, applicants must be tax-exempt, nonprofit organizations as recognized by IRS code 501(c)(3) serving the Worcester area or be an individual member of the creative sector looking to deliver a program or project in Worcester.

For those interested in applying or seeking more information, there will be a prospective applicant orientation held on Thursday, April 5 at 4:00pm.
