Richard D. Norlin Scholarship Fund- Honoree Profile

This scholarship was established by Karen in memory of her husband, Richard (Dick), a lifelong Sutton resident and Sutton High School graduate. Richard earned a BS in Chemistry (1973) and an MS in Management (1983) from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He had a distinguished career as a chemist and lab manager, retiring in 2008.

An avid outdoorsman, Richard enjoyed rock climbing, biking, skiing, and boating, often with Karen. He also volunteered with the Lake Singletary Watershed Association, where he served as president and director. In this role, Richard obtained and managed several state and federal grants, working with consultants on projects to maintain and improve the water quality of Lake Singletary.

This scholarship supports Sutton High School seniors pursuing studies in chemistry, environmental science, or STEM fields, reflecting Richard’s passions
